As an annual key
activity, HYM organized the 5th welding competition in welding workshop on
Sep.30th, 2022. Fifty-seven welders actively participated.
Admin department
prepared banners and attractive rewards for the competition. The ME department
designed the test content while the Production leader prepared the welding
materials. Quality senior inspector and welding engineer acted as the juries.
After the opening
speeches, the competition began. Welders involved with very high enthusiasm and
focus. All the competitors finished their “test pieces” according to the
defined cycle time. The juries reviewed carefully the welding position, welding
seam /finishing quality then the 1st, 2nd and 3rd price awarded.
“This is a good platform for welders to demonstrate their work knowledge and practical experience. It’s also served as a platform to identify skilled talents and experienced masters for the third stage of our systematic training course currently promoted by the company -- master coach the apprentice. Those identified candidates could also serve as a skilled talent pool to help the company train new employees or junior welders. Our final goal is to improve the overall welding skill of all welders and raise up their welding capability to the next level.” – Patrick THANG, Manufacturing VP said.
“It means a lot to us that our welders have strong quality awareness, skill, following OMS strictly. Welding competition is a positive incentive to achieve “Professional craftwork, Excellent quality”. We found the gaps about skills, drawing identifying, efficiency etc. We will analize the result to find the improvement opportunities and countermeasures”. - Fred ZHOU, Quality Director said.

The competition finished successfully after the award ceremony. This is a new beginning to improve welding quality to an even higher level.
